Beatrix is a quirky little monkey. She loves wearing everyone’s shoes, searching through the big shoe basket to make pairs. She’s never mismatched. It’s quite impressive for a 20-month-old.
Equally impressive is what she chooses to put in her “puwse”. She has fallen deeply in love with the boxed set of Narnia books. She carries them around in the basket which used to hold receipts for the shredder. Only six of the seven volumes of fit in the basket. She gets really angry at Book #7, whichever title it may be at the time. It simply won’t fit, no matter how passionately she screeches as she tries to jam it into the basket.
A few days ago, she combined her two loves into one look.
I have a 20 month old son who loves our shoes too… we’re not organized enough to have a shoe basket, but I can dream. And although he isn’t into purses (unless I’ve stashed a car or truck in mine), he’s forever coming to me with something to read and asking most earnestly, ‘Goop?’
If we were a society of arranged marriages, I know I’d be pushing hard for an alliance! Beatrix is beautiful, funny, smart, and clearly has a sense of style. God bless…
A girl after my own heart. (See #7.)
Although I’m not nearly as cute.

A girl after my own heart — loves purses and shoes. Oh – and books. =)

A fashion sense all her own. And that’s a good choice for puwse contents. 🙂

Too much adorable for one photo — what a doll. I love the tiny bit of toddler belly peeking out.
She has excellent taste in literature, too, considering that she can’t read yet. 🙂
Toooooo cute. Must have another toddler immediately. Oh wait…
What a dolly. She has great hair.

I adore this picture, as much as I adore the phrase “quirky little monkey”.

So sweet! I love the little belly stuck out there. Great picture.
Oh, that is soooo cute! This picture could be on a Mother’s Day card! What a doll.

She’s getting so big! Love that hair and those eyes. As for needing to have at least six books with you at all times, I can relate! And she has a definite sense of fashion. I see great things in her future 🙂

I love toddlers’ fascinations with shoes. My daughter is constantly swapping out “mah shews”, “mah bewts”, and “mah cwocks”. She comes by it honestly, though – my mom, my mother-in-law, and I are all shoe fiends.
Her thing to put in her purse is balls.

Do you know what I love most? The binky. Because when they put the binky in, their faces take on that solemn, impudent look, as if just daring you, yeah, go ahead, comment on my shoes, my books, my belly, but I’m keeping this binky, and there ain’t nothing you can do ’bout it.

Oh my goodness, she is such a little girl. All of her babyness is gone…ok, except for her binky. She is just adorable.

I just found your blog because of your guest post on Shannon’s site, and I can’t help but comment here. My daughter (who will be 21 months tomorrow) and your daughter are two peas in a pod, I think. Kaitlyn loves wearing my shoes, she loves purses, and I could see her getting angry at book 7 just like you described. Plus, she has about as much hair as Beatrix (except hers is platinum blonde) and she is always walking around with a binky in her mouth. And she very often has that same expression.
I’m glad to have found your blog – it will be added to my favorites!

The next time my not quite two year old shreds my eardrums with his rage at the obstinacy of square peg to fit into round hole, I’m going to pretend it’s your Beatrix I’m hearing. So much cuter when it’s someone else’s kid! 🙂
