Aidan and I prowled around a thrift store this weekend and found this box set, which I bought for the low-low price of $1.00.
I feel kind of bad for Little Town on the Prairie. It doesn’t appear to have been read.
By the Shores of Silver Lake looks like it was read numerous times, the covers folded back like a butterfly wings as the original reader tiptoed her way through the words.
I tend to read and re-read the same books again and again. It doesn’t leave time for exploring what’s new, but that’s okay at this point in my life. I commit wild fidelity with the few tried and true.
$1!!! What a great deal!
Happy reading! Our favorite is Farmer Boy.

Oh my. I was reading the titles of your posts in my RSS feed (I’m a bit behind) and found “Hayride Horror” followed by “Things you can infer from broken spines.”
My heart stopped. I was sure something terrible had happened to one of your children. I am so glad the post was about used books. Phew.
Ok, so maybe I overreact, but still.

Several of my own personal copies of the Little House books are actually completely falling apart, I read them so many times. I’m going to have to look around for another box set for my own kids one day.
Oh yeah…and I second that Farmer Boy was my favorite. And Little House in the Big Woods. In which they play with a pig bladder. Sounds like fun, huh?
Little House in the Big Woods was my favorite. I read them all, but I read that one about ten billion times =)

Oh, dear. Look what you’ve gone and done. I am totally going for an Amazon purchase right now…Lu will LOVE reading those! We actually had to throw our copies away, they were so OLD and falling apart!
If I remember correctly, “Farmer Boy” didn’t get much play around our house. It always looked brand new.
Oh, please tell me you put these in the right order right after you took the photo!
Anna—No. They are even more mixed up than before.
My Narnia box set is even more appalling. 🙂
But the real question is, where is poor Farmer Boy?

I’ve been reading Little House on the Prairie to my girls as part of our homeschooling. It is a wonderful family read aloud book. Enjoy!
