After arriving home from Grand Junction, we concentrated on a lot of outside play. The kids biked and went to playgrounds, as well as simply hanging out at home.
But last Wednesday, I returned to Grand Junction, taking Aidan and Sam with me. I took them because they are older, wouldn’t need supervision or entertaining, and they’d pitch in to help. I wished I could have taken them all, but it doesn’t seem to be the summer for invasions at my parent’s. If I return, I’ll take two different older kids. It was a complicated decision. My mom had her post-op on Thursday. It would be her first big outing into the world. I thought we’d help, plus provide some fun for Independence Day. I knew my parents would have been content to stick to watching the Macy’s fireworks show on TV, along with the hot dog eating contest. We wanted to provide some fire and pie.
We returned on Saturday, happy to see everyone. They had their own fun, going to a party and celebrating the 4th with grandparents. They hardly knew we were gone.
