We first saw a preview for Escape From Planet Earth last fall. The kids were intrigued. It’s about brother aliens, Scorch and Gary, who get into big trouble on our own dear planet. We’ve got brothers in our our house. Boy, do we ever. Anyway, as a mom I appreciate movies that depict the relationship, even if troubled, especially when the brothers are very, very different. Do I expect grand lessons from Escape From Planet Earth? Yes. Brotherly love is always a win-win. Here’s what the Weinstein Company says about their newest film to hit theaters:
The 3D animated family comedy catapults moviegoers to planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy, by-the-rules brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA. When BASA’s no-nonsense chief Lena (Jessica Alba) informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet, Scorch rejects Gary’s warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a fiendish trap set by the evil Shanker (William Shatner) it’s up to scrawny, risk-averse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his beloved wife Kira (Sarah Jessica Parker) and their adventure-hungry son Kip (Jonathan Morgan Heit).
Some of these photos alone crack me up. Look at the alien-baby-wearing Scorch. Just look at him:
Giveaway: We are excited to see Escape From Planet Earth which opens on February 15th in theaters everywhere and you can see it, too. The Weinstein Company is giving away a movie-goers goodie bag. The winner will get popcorn, candy, and movie-watching snacks. But the best part is a $25 giftcard the winner can use toward seeing Scorch and Gary save each other and maybe even the world.
To Enter: Simply leave a comment below. That’s it. No hoops. I’m not going to make you go on a quest or wear three alien babies, make a short film, post it here, or follow me wherever I go online. Just a comment. To make it fun, tell me about your brother or sister and a time they saved you (or you saved them.) But that’s optional. Please note if you’ve never left a comment here or your information has changed, it will go to moderation first.
To Win: On Friday, February 8th at noon MST, I’ll close entries and draw a number using random number generator. I’ll email the lucky winner who will have 24 hours to reply. The prizes will be mailed to you.

We got brotherly love.
I once saved my little brother when he was out of his depth in the ocean when we were little. We both still remember it. I’d love to see this movie!

Only child here… I know, hard to imagine coming from a family of 9 🙂
My brother saved me from drowning in a swimming pool when I was 7! He was 17.

Hi Gretchen, we would love to see that as a family
Would love to win – thank you!!! We still save each other — generally from the parents or getting yelled at 🙂 ha
I think you are the best 😉 Thanks for the giveaway!
Great giveaway! Saved my brother from a poor relationship choice once … Does that count? 😉
Would love to watch with my kids, thanks for the chance! 😀
You look lovely in that outfit today 🙂
My sister once saved me from a big barking dog. I still remember it with gratitude.
I love a good giveaway, thanks!
thank you for a great giveaway!
This movie looks really neat. I’m an only child, but I definitely could have used a sibling or two because I was pretty good at getting into trouble.
Looks cute. Someone needed to save my little brothers from the bad hair cuts I gave them when I was in highschool.
Oh I remember once…my sister saved me! LOL…kindof! We were riding bikes to our friends house growing up…and she made me carry both barbie cases on my front handle bars….so when I was peddling down the hill…..my knees kept hitting each case and I fell down and skinned my knee all up. My sister and to ride home and get my mom while I layed in the middle of the road. I guess she saved me…but I still blame her for making me carry both cases! LOL…still have a scar to show! 🙂
Not sure if it’s really “saving” her but my sister hated talking on the phone when it was for anything important so she would always hand me the phone (we sound a like) and make me answer questions, register her forr camps, complain to a store…anything like that, it was me talking and pretending to be her!
my kids love alien movies

This movie looks adorable – my scifi loving kids will be all over it!
Looks fun! My kids would love it!
I don’t think my siblings ever saved me, but I stopped myself from killing them because they are my sibling. Other wise, I’d have drowned them in the pool already. 🙂
I cannot think of a time a sibling saved me. My siblings are punks 😉
My siblings were all much older than me but as I got older my brother used to help me take care of my parents. I loved that about him and miss him a lot since he passed
YAY! Thank you so much! I know we’ll enjoy it.
