Now Joel can play video games without entering a state of deep hypothermia.
He can crunch a big bowl of buttery popcorn and chat on the phone while maintaining 98.6. degrees. He’ll be able to read without angrily wrestling a traditional blanket into obedience.
Best of all? Joel will be able to attend high school sporting events without feeling the snap of late-fall Saturdays. Cheering enthusiastically from wooden bleachers can be done in comfort and ease. I think we better find a sporting team to follow, now that Joel was given the gift of his dreams yesterday.
He began to open the Gift of the Day, but was sidetracked by an important phone call from grandparents. He didn’t mind. He didn’t know.
It’s blue. It’s fleece. It’s As Seen On TV.
SNUGGIE!
From the first time he saw the commercial, Joel has begged for his own Snuggie. It’s been a year of subtle reminders and outright pleading. A Snuggie would make his 6th birthday the best ever. It was never a passing fad, like the Pancake Puffs maker or the Big City Slider gadget. He wanted those too, but quickly stopped asking. The Snuggie was forever.
He noted that he actually felt a little chilly while opening his presents, so he better wear it. He wasted no time.
I almost feel like we were there to watch the grand opening. I had no idea when we called that so important a present was being opened. The blue color is perfect for his gorgeous blue eyes and his joy is apparent!
Lol that is awesome! Happy day to Joely!

Joel would get on so well with my son Abel, even though Abel is 12. They are twin souls. I LOVE it when they receive perfect presents. This was a great photo essay.

Okay, that’s the funnies thing I’ve seen all day. My kids don’t know what a Snuggie is, but if they did…I guarantee they would all want one.
Maybe I should make them snuggies this year instead of fleece feety pajamas for Christmas…
PS – You are #4 on my “leave 10 comments” tour. *grin*

Seriously. My kids still want the pancake puff, the snuggie….they’ve let the slider go…!
Love, Love the pics. He truly looks like that was the best present ever…way to catch the moment.
And my kids are always quoting the “you can answer the phone with it, hold a baby with it”
Cute!
Yes, JoAnn! I think Joel’s desire for one was because he thought if he wore a Snuggie, someone would automatically hand a video game controller and bowl of popcorn to him.
It’s like the tampon’s magical ability to produce a horse to ride or present an opportunity to go swimming.
That is so freakin’ awesome! I won’t be surprised if I get a Snuggie for Christmas. I am always cold and my children, who are experts in “As Seen on TV,” told me just the other day that I rreally, really needed a Snuggie. When I asked why, they looked at each other as if I were the most clueless mom on Earth and then looked back at me and said, “Because it’s a blanket…WITH SLEEVES!” Oy.

I think Joel is wise for his years, to desire such a practical item. It looks like it is designed with some growing room, too!
That is so awesome. As much as some members of my household might make fun of them, I bet if there some around here, they’d be worn — OFTEN.
Happy birthday to Joel!
