Approximately a year ago, I discovered Jones Soda Holiday Packs. I made quite a mission out of finding them, but it did not work out. They were produced in a very limited quantity. I turned to ebay, but was astonished at what they were selling for—over $100 for a pack of five sodas by the end of the frenzy.
A few nights ago, hubby was running errands at SuperTarget and came home with the 2005 limited edition of the Jones Soda Holiday Pack. There are five sodas. The flavors are Turkey and Gravy, Wild Herb Stuffing, Brussels Sprout, Cranberry, and Pumpkin Pie. I am trying to decide if I should sample the sodas, then report back on my blog how the taste-testing went, or if I should keep them packaged for a possible ebay sale or for our own personal collection.
Carbonated turkey juice. Fizzy sprouts. Bubbling stuffing. I am afraid of the non-traditional soda flavors, but I can see how cranberry and even pumpkin pie sodas would be tasty. While I am deciding, I am posting my first-ever poll.
If it were something you knew you would enjoy, I’d go for it. (Can you tell I’m not a big risk taker?) If it were some ltd. edition chocolate, I’d definitely eat it, but a brussel sprout beverage? Ugh.
Of course, if they weren’t to expensive, buy another. 🙂
I say most definitely! I remember last year’s fiasco, the weeks of searching multiple Targets only to come up empty handed, best to get it over with!
I was so disappointed last year when you couldn’t find one to sample. I say go for it!
Wait, you didn’t give us option #3: Have hubby go out and buy another pack, taste that one, if you liked it, drink both, otherwise Ebay the unopened one!
Hmm… option #4, hang on to it, unopened, for your children to find in your attic in 50 years and wonder why in the heck you would have ever spent any money on THAT???? lol
Oh yeah! By one for e-bay and drink one! The best of all worlds. Maybe…unless turkey fizz is really gross.
I’ve never heard of these! Try them! I want to know what they taste like!
You will never know unless you try it!
Ewwwww, ewwww, ewwww! Can you guess how I voted?
You MUST try them all, make an evening of it and then tell us all how they were. 🙂
What kind of person even THOUGHT to make brussel sprout soda? Ew. (And I like brussel sprouts. With lots of butter, of course.)
I voted for drinking. Let’s hear the results!
How funny to read your blog! I thought of you just the other day as I saw the sodas at my local Target store!
Drink them! Heck, skip cooking and serve them to the family for supper. Do you think any of your kids would be brave enough to try them? Any “Fear Factor” contestants in the ranks?
I say drink them, but have a bucket nearby in case you hurl! LOL!
Ah! I was gonna be the awesome little brother who brought his older sister a coveted box of Jones Sodas that I recently purchased at Target….but you beat me to the punch.
Now – should I drink, or should I sell?
There’s a potluck at work on Friday…I bet no one else is providing a Turkey dinner!!!
Thanks anyway, bro.
You can come to our house for the taste-test fest (if that’s what I decide to do) and save your Holiday Pack for ebay or potlucks.
I just heard about these sodas the other day from some boys who were going to go buy some from the store. Maybe I should check them out-they said the best flavor was green apple-sounds better than brussel sprout!!!
How funny to see this here! Reading your blog last year sent me on the same hunt only to come up empty handed as well. Today is my birthday and I thought a trip to Target was in order because…. well, it was my birthday. They had just put them out on the shelf, lucky day! I have been passing by those bottles on the kitchen table all afternoon wondering how/if/when to open them and more importantly, in which order. I voted to drink ’em and then maybe I’ll finally drink mine! =)
